// monsa vs morningstar
Monsa y Morningstar, dónde se solapan y dónde no.
A house view on thousands of companies, applied the same way for everybody. Monsa applies only the criteria you wrote.
Analyst reports, star ratings, economic moat and fair value estimates across stocks, funds and ETFs, plus Portfolio X-Ray for allocation, overlap and cost.
Monsa holds the rules you wrote down and checks your holdings against them every night.
The overlap is real and worth being precise about. Morningstar's ratings are a considered house view, applied consistently and by people who do this full time, and X-Ray genuinely reviews a portfolio by allocation, style and cost. Neither of those checks a holding against the requirements you set for it. If your process carries a moat test of its own, or a margin floor an analyst would not have used, the framework that has to be applied is yours.
Lado a lado
| Lo que quiere hacer | Morningstar | Monsa |
|---|---|---|
| Read a considered analyst view on a company | A long-standing strength, and across funds as well as equities. | Never. Monsa states no view on any company. |
| See what a portfolio is made of, by allocation and cost | Portfolio X-Ray, and it goes deeper here than Monsa does. | Portfolio weights only, and no view on the mix. |
| Treat funds and ETFs as first-class holdings | The heritage of the product. | Built around individual companies. Funds are not the level it works at. |
| Score a holding against criteria you wrote yourself | The ratings are Morningstar's, and being Morningstar's is the point of them. | The whole product, re-run nightly for every portfolio. |
Cuándo no necesita Monsa
If Morningstar's moat and fair value work already reflects how you decide, theirs is far more research than Monsa will ever carry, and the star rating is the shorter route to the same call.
